What's a Registry?

Hi
I've never been a member of a car registry but
with a recent purchase of a 1930/40s Sprint Car with
a HAL DOHC engine, I feel that maybe that will change!

I'm quite sure that there is no focal point of interest for
these old DO engines and maybe I should consider
starting one.  However, I don't really know what is
involved nor expected.  Anybody have ideas on where
to go for information?
