SFI Ratings

Iv'e seen the references to SFI ratings concerning the fire resistance
of racing clothing, and I would like to ask some questions
to demonstrate my ignorance on the subect.  
What does SFI stand for?  Where are the testing results published?
Should I know all of the reference numbers that pertain to the type of
racing I will be doing, or would the GCR from SCCA or MC give the
appropriate references?
