I agree, actually.  You've analysed the risks and made informed decisions.
Same thing sometimes applies when pre-war cars go out without roll-over
bars.  I wouldn't, and I hate running with them, but it's their choice to make.

Don't tell anyone, but I never wear my nomex socks - they're for Tech
Inspection only...
