Subject: Re: Monterey Historics

In a message dated 97-06-28 11:55:09 EDT, you write:

<<
Has anyone received either an acceptance or rejection for Monterey
 Historics yet?

I entered for the Historics but if, as I expect, I am turned down then I
want to enter the pre-historics the week before, but I'm trying to hedge
my bets here since I can't do both of them.

As this annual period of anxiety sweeps over California, many of us sit back
and wonder why ?
Who cares if anyone is accepted to that bloated series of demonstration
laps called the "Historics" Several years ago I quit HMSA after 10 years of
putting up with Steve Earls arrogance and the "charm" of Debbie. I'm sure he
doesn't miss me, but believe me its wonderful not spending the summer
worrying about whether or not Steve Earl "accepts" me. I dont need him to
run at Laguna Seca anymore, there are so many real Vintage races that I have
to pick and choose.
Want to run a great event ?, truck back to Elkhart Lake with us next month or
go up to Seattle where the race organizers dont think they are doing you a
favor by letting you bring your car to the event.

The term "Steve Earl tires "speaks for itself.
Only he would think he has the power to overrule the tire rules of every
other vintage club within a 2 days drive.

Lest you think this is sour grapes, Yes, I have run the Historics on several
occasions. It's just that I have found better places to invest my time and
money.

Boy, does that feel good! I think I'll go out to the garage and start packing
for Elkhart Lake
