This will be a short post. More and hopefully better posts will follow in
the future depending on the feedback this receives.
April 8, was to the be the day that VSCCA members could once again exercise
their steeds for the first time in 1995. The venue was Lime Rock Park. I
was ready, over the winter, I had had my twin 1 1/2" SU's and the intake
manifold flowed by the man who is supposed to be the best. (Steve Ellis).
Had to choke them all the way down to start the car the first time. (Before
rejetting). I was about 10:00AM, My group, under 2 liter, was about to
line up on the false grid for our first practice after a winter of fast
dreams. The skies opened up. Not with rain, for we are used to racing in
the rain at LRP. No, the white stuff. SNOW. After about 10 minutes, the
then current sesssion was cancelled and we shut down for the day.
Accumulations of 1" per hour. The Dunlops just don't generate enough heat
to melt enough of the snow.
By the way. My hat is off to Archie U. who was ready to take out his
fabulous Jaguar D Type in the snow. I also thank him for giving my 7 year
old son his first pocket knife.
Last weekend in April we all try it again at Pocono Speedway.
