Terryi have a story that always seem to keep conversation going with non ca=
r people.3 or 4 years ago i turned wrenches on a land speed record attempt =
at Bonneville.my friends son ran a 50cc supercharged motorcycle with side c=
ar running fuel.could never get the supercharger to work properly so while =
it was installed and therefore met the rules for having a supercharger, it =
never gave any boost.truth is there was an open category and all we had to =
do was make 2 passes and we were world land speed record holders.we made 2 =
passes.official team statement says "while we did set the world land speed =
record we failed to make the 200mph we had hoped for".
even the least educated on cars can keep up with this fun story.

This Monday at a day long meeting we had a lunch break where I found myself=
sharing awkward silence with a high-powered state government official, a v=
ery nice man, I should add.=C2=A0 To fill it, I happily started briefly tal=
king about sandblasting wire wheels on my vintage Triumph this weekend.
After a moment of him looking blankly befuddled, I realized I'd better chan=
ge the topic, since clearly the hobby of antique cars is not universal, nor=
even necessarily of vague interest.=C2=A0 I've embarrassed myself in bette=
r and more significant ways over the years, but I'm particularly fond of th=
is one.=C2=A0 Still, I hope to do better on my next attempt at humiliation,=
since apparently I'm fond if it.
So I wonder about journalists too.=C2=A0 They leapfrog from topic to topic-=
-today it's welfare reform, tomorrow it's the project to bring electricity =
from Canada through the White Mountain National Forest.=C2=A0 Have to wonde=
r how they get any of it straight.=C2=A0=20
I do love hearing the stories of people on this List.=C2=A0 It's a place in=
New Hampshire where, apart from thumbs up from strangers on the road at my=
TR3A, I comprehend my company.
