Try converting it to millimeters.

The actual number is not at all critical, basically it just becomes a
component of the free play at the pedal.  The only important thing is that
there always be _some_ freeplay at the slave.  Personally, that's all I
check for, that I can wiggle the pushrod a bit if I extend the return spring
with my other hand.
Running it as loose as the .079" in the Haynes (or the .075"/1.9mm in the
Bentley) just gives you a bit more room for wear before it needs to be
adjusted again.  The penalty is a lower clutch pedal.
