I wouldn't take _any_ workshop manual's word on what was originally on the
car.  Goes for any car, not just Triumph.

The factory generally writes the manuals well before the car is made, and
generally doesn't update them for production (or even pre-production)
changes.  A perfect example is the factory TR2/3 workshop manual, which does
not mention the split steering column (or that it can be removed without
removing the front apron).

Aftermarket manuals like the Haynes are even worse ... in addition to errors
(and there are several more in the Haynes, I just don't recall what they are
offhand) there is no way they have taken apart every different configuration
of car.  In some cases the cars were even configured differently depending
on what market they were to be delivered to ... this is simply not within
the domain of a workshop manual.
