I would like to thank everyone who responded with suggestions and comments
on
my fuel starvation/bad fuel pump problems. The list of contributors is too
long to
respond to everyone directly. I actually had two problems, a bad
mechanical fuel pump and some trash in the tank. The electric fuel pump I
installed cleared the obstruction in the tank evidenced by the fine rust
trapped in the filter I installed just upstream of the pump. I have
already
had the tank cleaned out once and have decided to bite the bullet and buy a
new tank so this problem does not get cropping up. I will also be keeping
my
eye out for a new mechnical pump that doesn't require a spacer (p/n
312167 ).
There is one on eBay I may try to get. Once again, thanks for your help.

Richard
