Not sure if your friend wants to invest this much but I recently bought the
Mighty Vac brake bleeder and found it amazingly easy to bleed the brakes on my
6 (without the need to have someone pumping the pedal while you work the
bleeder screw). The reason I suggest this is that it is essentially a vacuum
pump
that creates a vacuum in the line that pulls the fluid through the bleed screw
into a container. It would at least identify if there is something stopping
the fluid flow in the system. I paid a little over $30 for the device and
intend to use it as a vacuum test as well.
No financial interest; just thought it might work in this case. Others here
might have other solutions.
