Zach, I have a '69+, had it for about 5 years, and its rear end clunks,
too. Every bump. Have yet to figure it out.
My fenders are flared, also. Interesting to hear that this is not an
anomaly. PO may have set it up for autocross, or something. There are also
heavier duty studs for mounting the wheels.
Hot? Yeah. Insulate. Make sure your heater temp valve shuts the water
off completely.
These are fun cars. The hardtop means you can realistically drive this
earlier in Spring and later in Fall. Enjoy.
