I recently ran across this page:

which provided some new insights and new ideas into solving
the "lack of sleeved thermostats"...
I still run a sleeved thermostat, have a spare on the shelf
in its original packaging (hi John!). I always planned
to replace a failed one with a "modern" unit the block
the bypass, but I think using a blanking sleeve is a
better idea.
