Hi all,

I don't know who started this thread but you can get a 3 ton jack from
Harbor Freight for $59 on sale. Don't have any experience with rebuilders
but I bet they don't touch anything for less than that. I work for Harbor
and haven't seen any of these come back as defective in the 6 months I've
been there (just don't pull the little plug out to bleed it). Personally I'd
rather put my money into my projects than my tools, but if you have
unlimited funds get yourself one of them there $2500 one pump nascar jacks.

The problem of how to get under the car is easily solved with a couple of
2x4's, just roll the front wheels up on them before lifting (be sure to put
them back before you put it down). Don't remove the saddle unless you want
the jack to slip off the greasy frame member you're jacking underneath.

I'll second the need for good jackstands and a little test before crawling
underneath. I've know 2 people who had vehicles fall on them, one is still
with us.

Cheers,

John Matthews
