Might be less common in the rust belt, but around here, exhaust studs
that are 3/8-16 on both ends are quite common.  Used on many GM V-8's
from the 50's into the 80's.  If you look in the "Help!" section, there
is usually a package of 3 studs and 3 brass nuts for just a few $$.
