If you register it as an historical car, I believe that Maryland does
not require an inspection. I can't guarantee that because I switched my
car from regular to historic, and Maryland has the bizarre but
convenient system of inspecting only when you first register a car, not
annually. Thus my 4A hasn't been officially inspected since 1972. I
switched to historic because the registration is cheaper and you get a
neat license plate. The state's supposition is that you will not be
driving it very much, but they don't make you commit to that.
