Seems that since I got my 71 TR6 on the road I've had a new question for the
list each week. I really appreciate all the help I've received to get my
baby on the road. Well I drove it to Pensacola for their British car show
on Saturday. The weather was overcast but nice, and we had a great day. My
son followed us in the Midget. (He even had his first pint of Guinness as a
little Irish pub we stopped at) Both cars made the trip (about 200 miles
round trip) with no major problems.

Now on to question number 1. On my way back the 6 started missing. It got
progressively worse as we drove, but it got me home. I changed the points,
condenser, and plugs, but no cure. It is better, but still not right.
Under full acceleration it seems ok, but accelerating normally (in traffic)
it misses. For info, I replaced the plug wires, distributor cap and rotor
before putting the car on the road. When I bought the car I was told the
engine had a fresh rebuild, and I believe this since the gaskets all look
new. I would like to adjust the valves, since I'm thinking that now the car
has been driven they may have seated some and need readjusting. The book
says to adjust them with the engine cold. How long does it have to sit to
be "cold"? Unfortunately, I am having to drive the car to work since my
wife's car is in the shop. Hopefully we'll get her car back today, but if
not I'll have to drive the 6 tomorrow again. How long does it need to sit
after I get home before I can adjust the valves? I'm also not sure I have
the carbs right, but I want to get the valves right before messing with the
carbs. The plugs looked good, light tan on the electrode, when I removed
them.

Question number 2. I have a Crane electronic ignition for the car. I tried
to install it twice now and both times the rotor broke in half. Do you have
the file down the rotor button to compensate for the thickness on the
shutter or am I just doing something wrong?

As always I appreciate all your help.
