Steph:
If you are doing a frame-off, you need to determine the condition of
your floors, sills and rocker panels, if they require replacement, that is
where you start as this area provides the rigidity between the A and B posts.
This is accomplished while the body is still attached to the frame with the
road tires intact on a level floor. Prior to removing, you must weld braces
across the A and B posts and across the top of the body from A to A post and
B to B post. At this time be sure to measure the distances from every angle,
the clearance between the rocker panel indentations and the front edge of
the doors, After you have installed the above, you may remove the body and
proceed with the work needed to restore taking care to reinstall the fenders
whenever the body is to be lifted as they also provide rigidity front and
rear.
Good luck
