I have been getting messages bounced by the server, so I am going to try to
recap my carb questions one more time to try to get some help from the list.
I apologize if this is a duplication of earlier messages.  Here goes:

My car is a low mile (~8,300 miles) '76 TR6.

At the suggestion of my mechanic, I had the carb's rebuilt (diaphragms,
metering needles, etc.) to cure a lean condition.  The problem I was having
was a rough start pulling away from a stop.  After the carb rebuild the
first problem pretty much went away, but I had a new problem which was sort
of rough running between 1500-2500 RPM (while cruising) once the car has
warmed up.

I went back to the mechanic and he began adjusting the idle trim (mixture)
screw on the side of the carb above the temperature compensator.  This had
no real effect and doesn't seem to be the right adjustment.

At the suggestion of the list, I have replaced my rotor, distributor cap and
plugs.

I have also tested my carbs my lifting the air valve 1/4 inch while it is
idling.  When I do this the car wants to stall.  This again indicates a lean
condition.  My old spark plugs had indications of a lean condition as well.

I plan to go back to my mechanic, but it seems that the adjustment my car
needs is a mixture adjustment through the top of the dashpot using the ZS
special tool.  Any thoughts?

I am tempted to take this one on myself by buying a carb adjustment tool and
a colortune device.  Any suggestions or experiences with my problems or
doing it yourself?
