TR3 glove box (cubby hole) question again!

If there are any TR3's still out there and not enroute to Portland (lucky
dogs!), could you look at the metal strip inside the glove box.  Does the
lid hinge set on top of this piece or between the strip and the fascia?
I've spent three days putting this D!@#$%ed thing together, only to have the
door not close.  In looking at the problem it seems the lid would close if
the hinge were mounted just about that much lower.

Piggott doesn't show and open glove box and the parts catalogs are unclear.
