trailer questions

This is only somewhat related to triumphs...
My brother in law is thinking about buying a trailer.  He would like to 
be able to move cars as well as other stuff e.g. a tractor, yard refuse 
etc.  My question is does anyone have any recommendationsas to what 
make of trailer and what should one expect to pay for good used trailer?
