It is normal for the engine's pan to be offset.  The crankshaft must be in the 
center
of the car, therefore the cylinder bores are also in the center.  The cam sits 
just
off to the side of the cylinder bores, so therefore the block must be cast with 
more
material on the camshaft side, hence the block and pan have a noticable offset 
to the
cam side of the engine.
