I was able to cut a groove in them - VERY CAREFULLY - with a die grinder and
then able to get the sucker to move with an old screwdriver backed up with a
hammer. After breaking the bond it came off pretty easy.
Some folks will just run 'em as is with no severe symptoms, if they're in good
shape.
