I feel silly asking this question but the usual tricks I've tried
successfully before haven't worked. The top nut on the passenger front
shock won't budge. The threads on the shaft are good and nothing
appears to be rusted, it just won't budge.

Liquid Wrench....tried it.

Heat.....tried it. Both no success.

I used to drive a '84 Olds Cutlass with RWD and had the same problem
when changing its front shocks, as the set-up was identical. In
disgust, I took it in to a shop and the mechanic showed me the easy way
to do it. An 18" breaker bar with the appropriately sized deep socket
slipped down over the shock bolt from under the bonnet side. A few
quick jerks front to back and the devil snaps off.

Don't quite have the clearance in this case for this technique. What's
the preferred method?

TIA,

Gary
