Is there anyone out there in the Texas area? I am trying to track the history
of my MkIII Spitfire and have managed to locate it back to a scrap yard in
Austin Tx. I have the title of the car and would like to contact DMV in Austin
to see if they can help. My BMIHT certificate indicates that the car initially
started life in Los Angeles - it would be great to be able to trace some of its
former owners. The last US owner bought it from the scrap yard as part of a job
lot and eventually passed it on for export to Belgium where it was restored to
some extent and eventually ended up in my posession. The fact that was in a
scrap yard does explain why so many bits and pieces were missing...... So - if
anyone can get hold of the address of the Austin DMV, I would be extremely
grateful.

I would also like to add that the Gaydon event was quite fantastic. Full of sad
ba*!£%*s as my wife puts it, and we all had a great time. I have to admit that
I trailered the car from Belgium to Warwickshire and then drove the last 5
miles - I don't have that much confidence in it after a little fiasco last year
at STER - but that's another story..... It certainly was a once in a lifetime
event and well worth the effort. I'd like to thank anyone reading this who was
involved in the organisation. I just have to work out now what to do with my
little brass plaque.....

Best regards,
