Barry,
  Hey I am working on a model of that plane!  It is the Dornier 
Do.335 Pfeil (arrow in german).  I recall hearing it was the fastest 
piston driven(no turbos) plane in the world for some time after the 
war.  Achieving around 180mph at optimum level.  Doubt it is now.
