My TR4 (also a '62) has press-in studs at the front and thread-in studs at
the rear.  The rear axle serial number (CT3552) is close to the commission
number, so I'm fairly sure it is original to the car. 

As far as I can tell from the factory Spare Parts Catalogue, this
setup (press-in front, threaded rear) is normal for all TR4s.  Don't know
about the IRS TR4A.
