I have experienced a problem(as well as many others) on my GT6+
since it was brought back from the dead this winter. Sometimes when
I put the car in reverse, and pull out, the shifter gets stuck in
reverse. I have to turn the car off to get it out of gear. This
only happens in reverse thank god. What is causing this?
Thanks
Tom

It could be a number of things, but start with the cheapest options:
Check gearbox Oil.
Strip and rebuild gearlever remote extension.
It could just be a problem with the metal tab that hangs down on the gearlever
remote extension, below the gearlever/stick, on the lower left side.
I had a similar problem to yours, and it deteriorated into my losing reverse
gear selection altogether. I was in Belgium at the time, but thanks to the
small Triumphs tight turning circle, I got home without any real problems, and
replaced the remote extension, as the tab was mangled beyond redemption.
I also once lost reverse in a Triumph 2000 Mk.2 Automatic.
250 miles from home on small country roads, and with a 34 foot turning circle,
that was a whole new set of problems!
Good Luck
and keep us informed.
Enquiring minds need to know!
Leon
