This depends on the car.  If the car is a 1977 Vega Hatchback, it is best
to find one that has very high mileage, and no alterations to any of the
factory original fittings.  Vegas from that era actually run better once they
accrue in excess of 130K miles.

As for a TR6, however, here is one big vote for low mileage original car.
Reasons?

1)  It has low mileage.
2)  Low mileage.
3)  Really low mileage.

Who here wouldnȘt like a car for which the service record is fully known?
No PO monkeying around with the engine, tranny, or drivetrain?  You will
have to take note of the perishable parts of the car (rubber), but those parts
go bad on every car.  Get a low mile-er if you can find it!
