Thanks for your response.  Actually no legal beagels have responded, yet.
As you probably just received my "Please stop" message, you know the support
was overwhelming in favor of YES do it.

Yes, I do plan on gingerly putting it into gear, to check things out.

It's not my mom I am worried about.  It is my wife.  She couldn't even bring
herself to slide under the car and see the bottom of the engine.  This was
really odd to me until I remembered how reluctant I was to get under the
car, in the very begining.

BTW - I've been reading you club rag on the web.  Nice publication, although
I don't have enough horsepower in this 486-66 w/8 meg to print the scanned
articles.  The racing version of the TR3's intrigued me.
