The TR6 paint code "17" is for the color "Damson" which is
officially designated as a "shade of purple."  My records
shows Dupont 8511 as being a match.  You can find a scanned
paint chip chart at

Also, if you want to see what a Damson-colored TR6 looks
like, there are a lot of photos of one at

If you want to match by code, a decent automotive paint
shop should have cross-references for Triumph original
paint codes.
