I have one of those spin-on filter adapters on my TR6. I have to
offset the filter adapter (and therefore the spin-on filter) to be able
to get to the clutch slave cylinder. However, whenever I change the
'modern' spin on filter, oil goes everywhere - down the sides of the
filter, down my arm (which is trying to hang on to the filter with warm
to hot oil in it) and normally some on the floor (I bought a few of
those blue plastic tarps from Harbour Freight Tools when they were on
special for 99c and ALWAYS put one of those under the car when I change
the oil). I only ever changed the oil in the TR6 with the original
filter ONCE. Even though the spin-on adapter still leaves me with oil
down my arm, it is far easier to use than trying to get the original
filter off each time.

The adapter has not yet leaked.
