Spitfire trunk hardware

Does anyone know how to remove the trunk latch assembly from a '78 Spit? So
far I've removed the four screws that hold it to the body, removed the
striker plate, and drilled out the screw that holds the lock assembly in
place. According to the Haynes manual the whole thing should drop out -
except, of course, it doesn't. Am I missing something?
