Well, the trials and tribulations continue...
So, I order the twenty spline driven plate. I have it 2nd dayed out here. I'm
thinkin' I'm ready to swap this bad baby. Pull the clutch. Get new plate out
of box. HEY...This suckers too big! Duh, the pre 74 Spits with the 6.25" or
6.5" clutch assemblies had ten splines...NO twenty available in anything but
7.25". So...now I need the clutch plate AND a flywheel (found this at Pick and
Pull ) to mount all this on. Good thing I got such a deal on the trans
itself...This little swap has basically caused me to replace the whole
driveline. Since I've got to wait till wednesday for the clutch plate, I
guess I'll tear down the rear end now...wonder what little surprises THAT will
have in store for me!!! Any ideas on what to line the road side of my new
trans tunnel with? Can't get the old one off in one piece. Thinkin about a
layer of neoprene on the inside for extra noise and heat insulation. I've got
a big sheet (6' x 8') of 1/2 inch thick. Maybe line the whole floor pan !
