I went to a heating supply distributer in Dalls and bought something
called "BOILER WRAP". It is a high density neophrene looking material about
1 inch thick. The sheet I bought was enough to do at lease 3 GT6s'.
After cutting the appropriate shape it was attached to the inside of the
cover with contact cement (3M spray in a can). Pieces were also places
between the carpet and the firewall. I can't tell you how much cooler it is
in the cockpit of a GT6 with this insulation added.
This has been in place for 3 1/2 years and shows no sigh of deteriation
or melting. The only thing I would of done different was not to place it in
the area on top of the clutch slave. It conforms to the shape and makes it
real difficult to remove the slave bolts . I will probably try and get cut
that away this weekend.
For all the purist out there I saved the funky oily plastic bag filled
with fiber that was supposed to insulate this area for future genreations to
marvel at!.
