A couple of questions.

1. Recently the zipper for the plastic back window on my softtop has
been
giving me big prolems in one corner. It gets stucka nd jumps teeth. I can't
get it back right and have to fight for about 1/2 hour to zip/unzip. Is
there a standard lubricant I could use or another trick someone knows to
alleviate this problem?

> Why not use some graphite powder. It's cheap, easy and not a mess
to use. Works well for a long time too.

2. Also recently my 80 Spit has been bogging down sometimes when I
step on
the gas hard at the line. It will go for about 1/2 second, then totally let
off, then I have to let off the gas and start again - creating a "lunge
people forward" effect. Any suggestions? Happens only when up to
temp.

> Sounds like too heavy of oil in your dashpots to me. What do you use
in there?

3. My car is fine with idling after it has warmed up. I may tavel 100s of
clicks on the road, but if I stop for about 30 seconds (to run into the
store, ring a doorbell, etc) when I get back in and start the car it will
not idle properly and will dead stall if I let off the gas. Then, after
about another minute of driving it is fine. Something settling in the carb?
Suggestions? Again, only happens when the car is up to temp or hot.

>I'll bet this is a problem with your gas line getting too hot around the
engine. A kind of vapor lock. Try insulating it from the heat by using
some of the hose insulator products available at auto parts stores. You
have the proper insulating blocks in between your intake manifold and
carbs, right?

Thanks for any help. Also thanks to the people that helped me determine
the
year of my Spit/dizzy.
