I've had the vacuum line from my vacuum advance distributor running from
the distributor to what is officially supposed to be the vacuum port on
my Holley carb, the port on the metering block. When I pulled the vacuum
line off today, there was no difference in engine RPMs. I put a cap on
that port and re-installed the line on one of the two vacuum ports on
the base of the carb. When I pulled the cap off that port, RPMs raised
considerably (a lot more vacuum?). I've been suspicious that my change
to a vacuum advance distributor didn't make a gas mileage difference.
Maybe because there was little vacuum coming from the port on the
metering block Have I made the right decision?
