As Wayne points out, putting the cross member back can be tricky.
The problem is that weight of the engine spreads the frame rail just a  bit
without the presence of the cross member.
When you try and insert the cross member bolts, usually three will
line up and the 4th will want to cross thread.  I discovered the  simple
solution.  Put a 2x6 or 2x4 under the oil pan and jack the  engine
just enough to take up some weight.  The frame will move back
and you can install all 4 bolts with so problem with cross threading.
Remember, don't dent the pan and crush the pan gasket,  Go up
about 1/4 an inch.
