My apology if you can't make out what I was attempting to illustrate in the
lower portion of my initial email. The server apparently defeated my attempts
(are there any "rules" for where it will cut off a sentance?).
Anyway, the basic jist is do I connect the Alternator on the input or output
side of the Ammeter? I'll make a second attempt, but if it comes out bad just
ignore it and shoot me later. Tom
Concept "A" (alternator connects to the "In" side of Ammeter)

+ Pos. 12 volts --* In/ Solenoid /Out (to starter)
Concept "B" (alternator connects to the "Out" side of Ammeter)
Alternator output-----------------------------*
*--In/ Ammeter /Out *--Fuse box--Everything

+ Pos. 12 volts--* In/ Solenoid /Out (to starter)
