Merlin Miller drove his stunning #28 Tiger to an impressive overall win
this past weekend at the SCCA race at Summit Point. Miller, who qualified
second, ran the little GT-2 Tiger against the big boys in GT-1 and SPO
where a Monte Carlo had qualified on the pole. Miller managed to move to
the lead on the back of the track to lead lap 1, but the lead appeared to
be short lived as the Monte Carlo's straight speed looked like it would
pass him into Turn 1. Some spirited late braking left Miller with the lead
as the Tiger ran with the Monte Carlo inches from his bumper.
Miller, who collected a win in GT-2 late last year on the same track, was
doing everything he could to hold off the GT-1 series champion when they
approached a group of lapped cars. Miller made the move of the weekend as
he split three cars at the end of the Summit Point straight, giving him the
lead and effectively locking the Monte Carlo behind the slower cars. From
that point, Miller stretched his lead and cruised to impressive win over
rivals like Corvette, Panoz, and Mustang.
