OK, you've had almost a whole day to figure this out.

This is what the FL1 design is trying to emulate.  IIRC it was either
the family's '61 Fairlaine or the '64 Falcon, or maybe both, that also
had a fuel filter cover (on top of the fuel pump) that emulated this
shape.
