Subject: Tiger's true colours
Does anyone have a conclusive answer that can help me out...
I have ahad my 66 for a little more than a dozen years and it is time for it
to get a bit of a spa treatment. The issue that I am hitting right at the
moment is that the car appears to be originally white and has since been
painted red by the previous owner who owned a Jag dealer. The interior is
red as well and this is the issue that is driving me nuts. I have been told
several times that all Tigers came with a black factory interior and that
the red would have been done custom at a later date. Recently I was at the
Toronto RM auction and tracked down an original sales brocure from 1966 that
lists the colour options including a red on white.
So what is the actual answer? I have not found any definative color code
reference to compare the serial number to (and have not tracked a BON copy
as of yet....). Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to bring the
car back to as close to the factory as possible...
thanks... Wouts'239
