Chris,
The "FB4" is an "F4B" Edelbrock high rise four barrel aluminum manifold that was
offered as part of the LAT 1 Super Induction System. It was accompanied by a
four
barrel Holley carb, and considered a Factory Stock option. The newer version of
this manifold is called the Edelbrock Performer RPM, and is nearly identical in
major dimensions, but of a better material and better equalized flow, but not
original equipment. The manifold has raised "F4B" letters on it, as well as
"Edelbrock".
As the story goes, Tiger was using a Shelby low rise 4 barrel manifold made with
the "TIGER" letters substituted for the original "COBRA". This was done on
other
pieces, as well, like the aluminum sump.
Vic Edlebrock was eying the set-up during the qualifying rounds of a race, and
suggested his manifold would make the car run better. He had his mechanics
substitute it on the spot. The Tiger folk were so impressed that they changed
the
option, and the Edelbrock F4B took over as the LAT option from the "TIGER"
lettered Shelby version.
Mine runs super.
