Dash removal

Hi Listers,
    Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Myself, I'm in the middle of
removing the dash and replacing it with my new one. Here's the problem. Have
everything out. Dash is removed from the car. Now how do I get the controls
for the heater off the dash. I can't seem to figure out how those two little
black handles are removed in order to slide the control out of the dash.
Please help!!!! Thanks to those that reply.
