One of the Grand Sports (not a convertible now, but possibly converted back
from one?) is up here in the Seattle area. Its owned and vintage raced
regularly by Tom Armstrong.
I saw it for the first time about four years ago when I was invited to a
"play day" at Seattle Int'l Raceway (Kent). Just after I steered the Alpine
onto the track (my first time), a thundering blue flash passed me on the left
at about 130 plus. Veerrrrryy impressive. Unfortunately, Tom immediately
shattered a rear wheel in Turn 1, luckily causing just minor body damage as
he ground to a stop on the track.
