Hey y'all,

Since the evil forces whipped my ass last week,  I brought the trailer and 
race car up to Green Lake this weekend to continue the work on the 
graphics, and trailer organization.

I've been looking at various tire mounting solutions for a set of rain 
tires & spares in the trailer. (Bernie "Youse Guys" has a nifty rectangular 
bracket that folds down to hold tires, but folds back up and out of the way 
if you need it to.)

I've been looking for a solution that's unobtrusive, removable, but also 
has a decent (and adjustable to various sizes) capacity...

If you look at http://www.kinedyne.com/ (the company that makes the "E" 
channel... look under "cargo control"..."interior van"), they have an 
adjustable "Safe-T-Lock" bar. Here's their description...


"Kinedyne Saf-T-Lok bars are designed for economy and ease of operation. 
Bars are offered in galvanized steel or high strength aluminum tubing. 
Features include a steel rack, a heavy-duty steel handle and a cast 
aluminum housing. Molded rubber feet grip firmly to trailer walls, yet 
won't scruff and will remain pliable even at low temperatures. The handle 
and trigger release are easy to operate even with gloved hands.
NOTE: Cargo bars do not have load ratings due to varying conditions of 
trailer sidewalls."

2 bars, properly spaced, can form a nice tray in to which tires can be 
captive. But, if your trailer's like mine (24" on center), you wouldn't 
want just a friction fit between the braces, as it would bow out your 
walls, and likely come crashing down....

so...

the ends can come off quite easily, and be replaced with the E channel 
clips. Then, mounting E channel horizontally (we're talking at the front of 
the trailer), you can spread the load across the walls, securely clip the 
bars, expand the bar slightly for a firm fit, and maintain an adjustable 
size depending on your tire sizes. Make Sense?

So, these Saf-T-Lok bars are pretty expensive... like over $100 each...but...

I've got a source of these bad boys for $15 a piece. So, for around $50 
total (you need to buy 4 of the E channel straps...about $7 per... cut the 
strap off, and weld the bracket portion  to a short length of pipe to 
replace the rubber feet...)

Anyone interested? This guy has 15 to 20 more of these bars at that price...
