WST (aka The Flounder)
Following in the true T-T sprit, I have run in to a habit of breaking
rear axles on the wifes Bugeye. Last year One went when I was driving,
yesterday, one went right after our club Gymkhana. This car is simply
running a 1275, Datsun 5-speed and slighty wider tires.
I have no problem axles replacing them, as that is one task I was well
schooled at while helping T-T at the races a few years ago. My problem
is the axles break at the splines and a 2-3 inch piece remains in the
differential. I am tired of changing the diff (besides I haven't fix
the first diff yet) and I've run out of spare diffs.
What axles should I use and where can I get them at a reasonable
price? I have heard of competion axles, that is what you were considering for
the Red-Rat #99, but your axles were breaking at the
hub, mine the other end. Wil the competion axles be the answer? Or should I just
get used to repairing diffs and get a supply of standard
axles?
