Gang,I'm inspecting a 948 which by all outward appearances was a SCCA regio=
nal motor.=C2=A0 I recognize a TON of the things done inside and it's defin=
itely not stock!=C2=A0 =C2=A0I believe Winners Circle may have been the bui=
lder.=C2=A0 Winners Circle's engine builder passed away a number of years a=
go so I have no person to explain the mods to do that can be verified.I wan=
ted to find out the main & rod bearing sizes .=C2=A0 So I popped off a rod =
cap and a main cap to read the bearings.=C2=A0 No bearing size stamped on t=
he back side of the bearings.=C2=A0 VP's logo is clearly there and numbers =
on either end of the shells but not one indication as to the bearing being =
standard or undersized. The rod bearing is stamped=C2=A0 2783 on one end whi=
ch is a BMC A series rod bearing general shell number.=C2=A0 The other end =
is stamped 2A 690.=C2=A0 That's it!Main bearing has 4105 on one end & AEA 3=
08 on the other end.=C2=A0=C2=A0Now!=C2=A0 I simply pulled 2 bearing caps s=
imply to see what they looked like and find sizes so if I thought it needed=
fresh bearings , it would get them.=C2=A0 =C2=A0The main bearings looks br=
and new with no run time.=C2=A0 Rod bearing looks like possibly 1 race if t=
hat.=C2=A0 The stuff in this motor looks like the motor was built 6 months =
to a year ago!=C2=A0 Outside looks like it's been sitting around for 30+ ye=
ars. Block was painted black.=C2=A0 Cylinder head ( with Champion N9Y plugs=
)=C2=A0 was never painted.=C2=A0=C2=A0Since this motor looks very much like=
it has a "red" crankshaft in it along with all the period hardware.=C2=A0 =
=C2=A0Trying to keep it from hurting itself ...if I fire it up.....Chuck
