Greetings! A mentor of mine had me run the exhaust out of another car into the
gas tank for 15-20 minutes to clear out the vapors on my Jag 3.8S gas tanks
before soldering up the few rust holes. Prior to that I had shaken ALL the
loose rust out. But before continuing, I threw a cup or so of old nuts & bolts
in and shook them for maybe 10 minutes or so. Another 2 cups of rust flakes
poured out. After soldering, the gas tanks have been leak-free for 9 years.
Luckily, the previous owner of my Sprite sprung for a new gas tank, so no
current worries with that. Cheers,

Peter Gaylor
