>Here's a dissected condensor/capacitor. >http://www.britishcarforum.com/bcforum/ubbthreads.php/topics/594557/1 >Has anybody used an audio type capacitor to replace the auto type condensor? > >Dave '70 midget Dave, An expanded version of the article you reference above can be found in the BritishCarForum Wiki/Tiki. Here: <http://www.britishcarforum.com/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=Condenser+Failure+in+Conventional+Ignition+Systems>http://www.britishcarforum.com/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=Condenser+Failure+in+Conventional+Ignition+Systems or http://tinyurl.com/yz537qg This article goes on to use modern capacitors in place of the in-distributor unit. Nice pictures and schematics for using them too. Only thing missing is a source, but that shouldn't be much of a problem. Still would like to know if a diode could be more effectively used to protect the points. Tim Collins http://www.flickr.com/photos/12702006 at N07/sets/ |
