Weird man...I thoroughly enjoyed my British car week and I did the
same thing you did, wire brushing, finished off with powder coating.
Also lots of playing with the light saber of the metal world, my plasma
cutter and even got to practice my TIG skills (I WAS VERY RUSTY).
I drove my Italian car, it leaks oil every bit as much as a British
car, does that count ?
